This post is based on my late night interactions there so I cannot speak of the business when it is running during general business hours. First off it's a godsend that it is actually opened 24 hrs as there are plenty of bars etc in the East Village and nothing is open 24 hrs anymore (really NYC, get it together, there are drunk people who don't want to take a cab to Wo Hop or pray that the local street meat vendors wares doesn't make you crap your brains out before you have to go to work the next day or some Nasty McDonald's where a homeless person may bite you)
Bagel Boss caters to the hospital up the Avenue as well so that can explain its 24 hr availability.
The bagels are perfectly fine and the staff is capable and friendly during the overnight hours but what I'm here to write about is its assortments of spreads and salads etc.
It has THE BEST whitefish salad I have ever had. Beats Zabar's, beats Acme, Beats Russ&Daughters as most whitefish salads are really more spreads or pastes, over at Bagel Boss they have big hunks of smoked whitefish goodness amidst the mayo and more spread like consistency like qualities. It's like they took whole smoked whitefish, scraped all the meat off, then just tossed it in instead of processing it. It is phenomenal and may be pricey but SOOOO worth it! on a toasted everything bagel? Perfection!
Also they have sable for sale which most places don't carry and should as it is such a wonderful contrast to lox. I tell you if you can get your hands on Sable, you should!. Love Bagel Boss! -

WHAT AN ABSOLUTE JOKE. A TRAVESTY, BAGEL BOSS IS. Burquist would go into cardiac arrest from hearing this, and 'The Jackson' would have to excuse himself to contain himself.
"Bagel Boss" is a severe disappointment with both quality, cleanliness, and customer service failing to achieve a 'passing' score. Department of Health has already been notified of this catastrophic situation.
Usually I wonder who gives such atrocious places 5 stars, but again, maybe inferior quality is the traditional norm. It still remains surprising that still some chains in NYC can be so disappointing compared to their counterparts ("Bedford on Park" is a classic example). "Bagel Boss" has just become a part of this 'exclusive' club. "Bagel Boss" in Queens is shockingly poor, but this particular chain distorts the perception of "Bagel Boss -- Queens". I never thought I would recommend the one in Queens, but when faced with these 2 options, the correct answer is too clear !!
I have been to this decrepit establishment MANY times only because of the convenience, but I cannot and WILL NOT support this place again. In fact, the owner should be ashamed of his poor performance and utter disrespect for customers. The location and the fact that "Bagel Boss" is open for 24 hours is truly where the $$ comes in. Most workers are RUDE, and concern for overall health is constantly and consistently overlooked: spider in soup, rats/mice by the pizza in the back, egg shells in egg dishes, hair in food, food sitting out for days, and unhealthy amounts of oil in certain dishes. Mark had severe issues after consuming the LATKE "potato pancakes". They do not drain the oil !!!
Exactly what @Mira B. said: many workers MUST be fired, they are severely incompetent and rude. If the workers cannot perform their basic responsibilities at their job, why keep them?
Prices are also NOT cheap ,,, over-paying for low quality food items is never pleasant. Tremendous work needs to be done. Total disaster ,,, -

I placed an order for about 5 bagels via Seamless at around 11:30 pm on a Saturday: three with regular cream cheese, and two with tofu cream cheese for vegans.
Not only did the order not arrive until well past 1 am due to issues with the carrier, but we received an incorrect order. We also had to take a wild guess which ones had tofu and which ones had cream cheese due to them not being labeled, which SHOULD be a priority because of dietary restrictions/allergies.
Luckily, we figured out which ones were which, but one person was left without a bagel. Also, after a few bites, we realized that the tofu used on the vegan bagels was sour and tasted like chemicals. Needless to say, we ended up not even eating them. I didn't feel like wasting my time trying to get a refund, so I let it slide, but this service was unacceptable. -

Food is serviceable, good lox though bagels only marginally above bodega-quality. Delivery took 90+ min and restaurant failed to respond to initial requests for update. When they finally picked up, employee on phone was very rude + unhelpful. I don't expect all that much from a bagel shop but at least pretend to make an effort to ensure your customers receive their overpriced bagels.

Don't order from here if you want to eat within an hour of ordering. Called the place and all they could say is orders are out sorry. Ordered at 11:47 got here at 1:20. Bagel is extremely hard and chewy. Lox is only good thing about it.
